Vazu Green Statement

The Vazu is an environmentally preferred product compared to a traditional glass vase, due to a far lower full lifecycle impact on the environment and human health (in terms of energy and natural resource usage, as well as carbon emissions).

Materials:

The Vazu material (thin layers of polyethylene and polyester) takes much less energy to produce than glass.  Common glass has a melting point temperature of 1500 degrees C (2700 degrees F), and a working point temperature of 1100 degrees C (2000 degrees F).  Polyethylene has a melting point of 105-125 degrees C (220-260 degrees F) and polyester has a melting point of 255 degrees C (490 degrees F). *Figures from Wikipedia May 29, 2008

Further, much of the common glass used today is manufactured in developing countries with limited environmental law standards and enforcement.  The Vazu is manufactured in a country known for strong and enforced environmental standards.

Transportation, Storage & Reuse:

Since the Vazu is stored completely flat, approximately 50-200 Vazu (depending on model) occupy the same space as just one similar-sized glass vase in transit, thus the Vazu uses a fraction of fuel oils in transport and distribution.  Vazu also requires much less room to store at retail, at home or in the office.  The Vazu is manufactured with high quality materials which are not breakable like glass, and the Vazu is designed to be reused over and over.
